ENGAGEMENT RING STYLES AT A GLANCE

When it comes to diamond settings, you have an endless array of options!
While each will showcase your diamond(s) in a unique and attractive way, certain styles may be more appealing than others.
To help, here’s a simple primer outlining each style. Note that additional customizations such as Halo, Split Shank and Eternity may also be applied to your chosen setting.

SOLITAIRE

Solitaire rings feature a single center stone, conveying a timeless, simple elegance.

Solitaire rings may be further customized with your choice of metal as well as a number of prong options and band treatments. A solitaire engagement ring is perfect to be paired with any wedding band. Whether you want to stay classic or express your style with a fun and unique band, a solitaire is the way to go.

CHANNEL

Channel settings do not include prongs, beads or any fixtures between diamonds.

Instead, the diamonds are set closely together and are held in place by metal bars on each side.
Channel-set diamonds are generally larger than pavé diamonds and smaller than shared prong diamonds. Channel settings offer a continuous sparkle all the way around the band and present a clean, contemporary appearance. They are also idea for anyone with an active lifestyle. Channel rings may be further customized with your choice of metal as well as a number of prong options and band treatments.

THREE STONE

Three stone rings feature a center diamond and two side diamonds.

They are also known as “Past, Present, and Future” rings and offer a classic look that never goes out of style. Three stone rings may be further customized with your choice of metal as well as a number of prong options and band treatments.

SHARED PRONG

Shared prong settings are typically used for diamonds that are larger than those in both pavé and channel settings.

In a shared prong setting, each stone shares one set of prongs with the stone next to it. With less visible metal, more light can pass through each diamond, which leads to added sparkle. Shared prong rings may be further customized with your choice of metal as well as a number of prong options and band treatments. Pro tip: Make sure to consult one of our jewelers to ensure that this ring will fit your lifestyle as certain shared prong rings are not optimal for the active woman.

pavé

In a pavé or micropavé setting, very small diamonds are held in place with smaller metal beads

creating an encrusted or “paved” look (Pavé is French for paver).
Pavé settings offer a twinkling, sparkly effect and convey a modern interpretation of an overall antique look. Pavé rings may be further customized with your choice of metal as well as a number of prong options and band treatments. Pro tip: Make sure to consult one of our jewelers to ensure that this ring will fit your lifestyle as certain pavé or micropavé rings are not optimal for the active woman.

HIDDEN HALO

A HIDDEN halo is a smaller circle of diamonds under a larger center diamond.

While halos were originally made to make your center stone larger, the new trend is the simply elegant hidden halo! Your center stone is the star of the show while sitting on top of a halo of accessory diamonds. The point is to leave a lasting impression in every single angle of the ring!

SIDE STONE

Side stone rings feature any number of additional diamonds surrounding a center diamond.

Side Stone rings may be further customized with your choice of metal as well as a number of prong options and band treatments.

EAST-WEST

IN A EAST-WEST SETTING, THE CENTER STONE DIAMOND IS SET HORIZONTALLY INSTEAD OF THE TRADITIONAL VERTICAL WAY

Adding a hint of modernization to a classic setting is the perfect way to set your ring apart from the others. Classic stone shapes such as ovals, emeralds, radiants, elongated cushions, marquise, and pears benefit from a fresh aesthetic in this beautiful setting.
